Prague: River Boat Tour

In summer 2018, I took a 10-day sightseeing trip through five countries in the EU. Day two continued with touring the beautiful city of Prague in the Czech Republic -- which is also home to my favorite indoor training platform, ROUVY -- if you're really into cycling, check them out!

I booked a river boat cruise which included lunch, drinks and slow-seeing the sights along the Vltava River (Prague Experience, 2021). Our ship passed by the Old Town, New Town, Prague Castle (TripAdvisor, 2021) and the infamous Charles Bridge (Prague Experience, 2021).

Below are some scenes from that afternoon.

One ship bared the name "Regina" which is the capital city in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. I was surprised to see a Canadian connection whilst there!

Approaching the Chares Bridge, built to replace one which had collapsed in a flood, this bridge dates back to 1357 (source).

Above: Close up of Charles Bridge; in the background, Prague Castle.

We passed some SUPs (Stand Up Paddleboarders) and a unique paddleboat in the shape of a car!

Below is a sculpture whose name I have missed (left photo) and the Dancing Building (iDesignArch, 2021) in downtown Prague; it's shape is meant to resemble two ballroom dancers. The building "was designed by Croatian-Czech architect Vlado Milunić in co-operation with Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry." (iDesignArch,  2021).

Prague is full of unique architecture and art; if sculptures interest you, check out this blog post on the "Top 7 Provoking Sculptures in Prague" (Vova Novaque, 2018).

Lunch onboard was a buffet of local commonalities: potatoes, vegetables, pickles, bread and goulash. Yes, I had beer with it; this time, I tried a lighter ale.

Before disembarking, I enjoyed a short glass of schnappes. I have forgotten the flavor, however, recall it being quite strong. zdravím! (cheers - Czech language)

I hoped you enjoyed the visual scenes from a river cruise along the Vltava River in Prague. Check back again soon when I'll share a few more photos from downtown and Prague Castle.

Cheers & happy travels -- stay healthy, stay safe.

Travel Information:
Afternoon Prague river cruises run about 2 1/2 hours along the Vltava river. Cost is about 45 Euro per person. Includes lunch and drinks. Prices reflect costs in 2018.
