Kanchanaburi by Train #4

Our journey continues; we arrive at the hotel....

One of my good friends in the city recommended a sprawling 50sq.km resort in the western province. The resort offered something very unique-- floating villas. These rooms look like mini houses, and are set on pontoons, which are floated over the River Kwai. The result was a feeling of sleeping on a houseboat. Very nice and relaxing. ^_^

That night, I treated my mother and father to some popular Thai dishes, ordering a large course meal...and I even broke my no-alcohol rule for the first time in over a year -- enjoying a cold beer with my dad. ^_^

Our meal (Green curry, Phad Thai, cucumber soup, rice, chicken wrapped in banana leaf):

The following morning, we explored the large resort grounds, enjoying the gardens and walking paths...

Pre-historic stones (which, the resort said, dated back 3 million years!):

I booked a long tail boat tour, so I could get some shots of our floating villa from the outside...

Check in again tomorrow to see some unique views from Thailand's famous river Kwai. ^_^

Pung-Waan Resort has two locations -- Kanchanaburi and Nam Tok. The floating villa room sleeps 2 ~ 4 people, and the flat rate cost is 2,600 Baht per night, including a buffet breakfast. Free transfers from the train station. Further info and reservations can be made HERE
