Chatuchak Park Exploring

I spent my day off walking around the northern end of this park. Chatuchak Park is really large and can be compared to Central Park in New York City.

I stumbled across two recent university graduates, taking pictures among the flower blossoms:


The northern side of this park also features large gardens and sculptures:


It's a really lovely spot to escape the city noise.

Anime in Bangkok

I'm a bit of a nerd and like all things geeky. This includes anime, and I stumbled across a manga shop in Central World. [Oh! Anime] is located on the 6th floor of Central World department store, in the central area. I've noticed while sitting on the trains, Japanese anime seems to be quite popular here among Thais. Who can blame them? Japanese stories are always quite unique and cater to every taste. I remember a friend telling me there was a manga about a guy losing his hair! It's kind of neat to see these manga with the Thai script though.... If you're wondering about my favorite manga, that's easy. It's "Fushigi Yugi"/ 日本語で「不思議ユウギ」 Another I like for laughs is "What's Michael?" -- about a dancing cat. =^_^= I used to enjoy manga to practice reading in Japanese. These days, I've got my nose buried in my language studies.

Afternoon Tea @ Mandarin Oriental | Part 5

We conclude our afternoon tea at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Bangkok. At last, the sweets arrived! Side A: Side B: An assortment of jams -- pomelo, raspberry and peach: Detail of table flower (I know my Japanese readers' fetishes...you guys love macro flowers.) We spent 2 hours here, munching, chatting, and of course, laughing. When Ms. D and I are together, we are constantly making up funny stories. ^_^ We were so loud, we scared away a Thai lady who was chatting on her phone. (laugh) We both agreed, this afternoon tea was very nice, with great service. **Special Bonus ** Do you recognize these royals? They have also enjoyed the Mandarin Oriental's famous tea.. 東京! | Tokyo! Day 1

September 1st finally arrived for my mini-trip to Tokyo. Yay! I have been away from Japan for 1.5 years; it's nice to be back in my 'other home'. ^_^ My flight departure time was 6.05 -- very early. I think I had too many things on my mind, so I could sleep only 1.5 hours before leaving my apartment. @_@ I got to the gate in Bangkok by 4.20am and waited...It filled up soon after I took this photo: I flew a ' premium 747-400 ' (for you plane fans!) from BKK to NRT (Narita). This flight was due to continue onto San Francisco. The sun was just coming up we taxied out... Once at Narita, I took took the Airport Limousine Bus to TCAT . Buses are very easy to use from the airport, and there are many traveling to Tokyo, Chiba and surrounding areas. The time was 1 hour to TCAT; I then switched to Tokyo Metro , taking the Hanzomon line to my hotel. It was easier than expected. ^_^ Inside the bus... Inside Tokyo Metro (subway)...人が少ない。| There weren't many people inside......
