M's Apartment & Proper Tea

My usual two girlfriends and I got together on a Saturday afternoon to say goodbye to She Ra, Princess of Power, who would be traveling for almost 2 months. I created a new nickname for us! Since we are three girls, I thought we looked like this walking down the street: Charlie's Angels! Except that we live in Bangkok, so maybe we'd be better off as Khun Somchai's Angels!!! (laugh)

Divine M (Bionic Woman) invited us out to see her apartment. I'll show the photos first, and readers, try to guess her monthly rent. Ready to play? Let's go!

This apartment also has a pool and a gym. It's located 10 minutes from the BTS station, Ari. What do you think she pays each month in rent? Answer below (scroll your mouse over to highlight the answer):

After seeing her apartment, M took us to a cute cafe across the street, called "The Mad Hatter". Inside, were big comfy chairs, knick-knacks of all kinds, and tons of tea. We enjoyed what She Ra called: "proper tea service".

I will not repeat all the crazy things my girlfriends talked about. But I did learn one thing: I am pretty innocent compared to the topics they were discussing! o_O

The Mad Hatter is located on Soi 16, near BTS Ari Station. Huge variety of teas and a really nice owner. Prices from 75 Baht + (¥180 / $1.80).

I've been trying to cook some of my favorite dishes from my time in Japan...I guess I miss the taste of my second home.^_^ A friend recommended I try "Omurice" which means: omelet/rice. It's very easy... 1. Make rice. ^_^ // Fry up chicken (in my case, I used sausages), green pepper, onion and whatever else you like to put in an omelet. 2. After the rice is cooked, add ketchup and mix. Add the ketchup/rice to the chicken/veggie mix and stir-fry. [My German friend was really funny when I told her this recipe: "Ketchup?? With rice?!?! Ew!"] (laugh) 3. Make an omelet. Add the rice/stir-fry mix to the middle. Fold around the edges. **Hard part!** 4. Flip the entire thing over onto a plate. It took all my concentration, and I gave myself a little pep talk before the actual "flip". But, success! I did it! Yay! ^_^/ **Bonus** Today is Tanabata in Japan. This translates to "Star Festival". Cabbages & Condoms

If you can think past the name, Cabbages & Condoms is perhaps the MOST famous restaurant in Bangkok. It was started by a charity group that wanted to promote safe sex, lower the birth rate in Thailand and educate others in AIDS prevention. It's a really beautiful spot; at night, the garden area is full of small lights. It's highly recommended to take a date! ^_^ Garden seating area: Inside dining room: I made a reservation for my sunny friend, Ms. D and I on a Tuesday afternoon. We enjoy eating Pad Thai, spring rolls and an "ancient Thai appetizer".  I'm sorry I forgot the name, but this appetizer had a unique taste: toasted coconut, with peanuts, sweet onions, bits of lime and to eat it, the staff told us to roll up the leaf and stuff that into our mouths! It was really delicious! The Thai appetizer with toasted coconut:  Cabbages & Condoms is located on Sukhumvit Soi 12. BTS Asoke, take the sky walk to Times Square, walk about 5 minutes. ガンダム！| Gundam in Bangkok

Between March 7 ~ 11, 2012, there was a special Gundam exhibition at Terminal 21 in Bangkok. (BTS Asoke). I paid a visit and took numerous photos for anime fans. Please enjoy!   Main Display:      Original Gundam! (about 140cm tall)      There was a table set up of amateur "gunpla" -- plastic models of Gundam characters. All entries were Thai, but I was really impressed with some and took photos of the best.   Table full of Gunpla:      Ready for launch:      Nice action!       They look like Charlie's Gundam Angels (laugh):        I enjoyed walking around the display area. There were tons of gunpla in glass cases...like this one. I don't want to know the cost... @_@      This exhibition also featured manga, character goods, etc, but again, gunpla was the main attraction. I found a huge box...   Oh!      And then noticed the price..yes, that does say 21,000 baht! (=¥60,000 / $600)      I was looking around for my boyfriend (Char and/or Garuma -- depends on my mood.LOL...
